The idea of going back and forth to school has never been such a great one for me. I admit I’m kind of lazy as a student which is why I dislike this idea. I’m just that kind of student who really hates studying. But, I didn’t know there’s still this one thing I like about school, the first day of classes.
After four years of being trapped in the same old Science Building of the school, I thought to myself, I’m free from my one and only past building. I’m free from the scene of having the same classmates. I’m free from seeing the same teachers in that one building. Finally, a new building, new classroom, new set of teachers to see, new classmates, new friends, and most especially, new atmosphere!
It was a bright and sunny Monday. I opened my eyes full of excitement and began to prepare myself for school. I was ready to welcome my anticipated new school year, as it was the time when my senior high school life began. My heart was full of nervousness because I knew that I’d be meeting new people. As I entered my new classroom, I was shocked with the people I saw. To my surprise, almost everyone, aside from my classmates from STE back then, was familiar to me.
I knew everyone by their faces, probably because we’ve been in the same school for years and there were times we passed by each other on the campus, especially when there were events. It was a strange feeling. I just don’t know. I mean, who would’ve thought that we’d be put in the same class for our senior high school? We were once familiar strangers. We were familiar in the sense that we know each other by names and faces, and, strangers, in a way that we haven’t much interacted with each other.
Nevertheless, I was truly glad to have been given a chance to get to know these fun and crazy people. Our differences and similarities brought us together. Despite coming from different curriculums, sections, and schools, we were able to unite. We’ve gone through rough times at first for we didn’t know each other well. But, as time passed by, I could say we’ve gotten really close with each other and the bond we’ve formed is strong. Not only did I learn a lot of things, I have also created wonderful SHS memories with them. I am beyond grateful for being a part of this valuable family.

We are XIISTEMA – 38 individuals brought together by fate. We were once familiar strangers too, and now, I’m proud to say that we have become more than just that. From mere nobodies to one another, we’ve built a family with cherished memories we can’t just not remember.
